Prior to establishing BOOBOOK Ecotours we were always astounded when someone might say “there is nothing to see and do in Roma, Queensland. Why would people want to come here?”
Our answer has always been: There are some magnificent scenic areas; we have some fabulous wildflowers areas and wonderful National Parks like Carnarvon, Expedition, Lake Nuga Nuga, Lonesome, Beilba all right on our doorstep. We’ve even got dinosaurs. Keen photographers might like going on our Discover Carnarvon Ranges Tour to get some spectacular shots of the Arcadia Valley.
We are a community rich in industry (agriculture, timber, gas, oil). We have our own unique history with bushrangers and scoundrels and colourful stories to tell; we have magnificent and spiritual Indigenous cultural areas; we have great land managers who help to feed the rest of Australia while also looking after the environment and who are also willing to share their stories and provide an insight into how we live, work and survive in this environment day to day; we have some pretty special ancient and rare plants and wildlife that few would ever get to see and appreciate without coming here to spend time with us and our passionate staff; we have the largest cattle selling complex in the southern hemisphere. And we have one of the best haberdashery shops in Australia called “Ace Drapers” and the “Overflow”, with just about everything you have ever been looking for.
And at the end of a busy day of sight-seeing, drop into one of our many pubs; with great food and at reasonable prices. If it’s style you’re after, you might like Explorers Inn, The Tasting Co or The Royal on Ninety-Nine.
If you’re wanting to experience some of these areas with locals give us call at BOOBOOK Ecotours. We’d be only too happy to show you and your group around our special part of Outback Queensland, which is only a one hour flight west of Brisbane or around a 6 hour drive.
