Wow! What a recommendation from the one and only Duncan Armstrong, Australian Olympic champion and former world record holder of the Men’s 200m freestyle, 1988!!!!
But what was Duncan Armstrong doing here at Wallaroo???? Well……..
Recently we hosted our local Agforce meeting. We had a roll up of over 40 people which was fantastic and as a venue, the Wallaroo Outback Retreat couldn’t have been better. Apart from the light rain echoing on the corrugated iron roof, which developed into a very brief thunder storm that culminated in hail – the guest speakers paused at this point – it was a very successful and informative afternoon. The clouds parted revealing a magnificent rainbow and the scene was set for a most enjoyable evening barbeque complimented by a few beers and great conversation. The last of our guests poked off about 10:30pm but those who had the foresight to book one of our 8 glamping tents sat up with Justin around the campfire solving the problems of the world until 3am!!!!! Who ever said Ag Politics was dull??
In the lead up to the meeting, our local chairwoman was going over her running sheet of guest speakers. She confessed that evening the first thought that entered her mind when she read his name was “Duncan Armstrong from Telstra, that’ll be easy to remember – just like the Olympic champion.” She had to pick her jaw up off the ground when she arrived at Wallaroo and was introduced to Duncan Armstrong from Telstra, THE Olympic Champion!!!
